The U.S. obesity rate increased from 13 percent to 32 percent between the 1960s and 2004, according to researchers at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health Center for Human Nutrition. By 2015, it is estimated that 75% of adults will be overweight with 41% of those being obese.

Do you know if you are overweight?

One of the key ways to determine if you are overweight or obese is by your BMI (Body Mass Index). BMI is calculated based on height and weight and is used as an estimate of how much body fat you have. The higher your BMI the greater risk you have for heart disease, Type II diabetes, high blood pressure, gallstones, breathing problems, and certain cancers.

Underweight <18.5
Normal weight 18.5 - 24
Healthy Weight
Overweight 25 - 29
At high risk to devleop cardiovascular disease, diabetes, etc.

At higher risk to develop cardiovascular diease, heart disease, diabetes, etc., without intervention.

Extremely Obese 40+
